"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it" (Proverbs 22:6, NIV)

Ages: 3-5

When: Wednesday nights at 6:30pm

Mission Friends is a WMU sponsored organization for children who are ages 3-5.  Its main goal is to teach missions attitudes and concepts to all preschoolers. In Mission Friends, preschoolers participate in developmentally and age-appropriate learning activities and experiences that help set the beginning stage for a missions lifestyle. Through example, imitation, modeling, activities, stories, cultural items, prayer, patience, and love, Mission Friends learn missions attitudes and concepts along with the foundations of faith.  Through these activities, they learn to help others, work together, pray, give, and tell others about God's love and His Son, Jesus.

Grades: 1-5

Girls in Action—or GA—is a dynamic missions discipleship sponsored by WMU for girls in grades 1–5.  Through hands-on experiences, stories of missionaries, and cultural understanding activities, GAs learn that they can change their world as they learn about missions, pray for missions, give to missions, do missions, and participate in the work of the church.

GAs are challenged to live out Micah 6:8 (NIV):

He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Participation in the GA’s program helps young girls to understand the importance of doing their best to live a lifestyle that honors God.  Through studying and learning about missions, they develop the knowledge and understanding necessary to help them participate in and carry on the work of the church.

Sponsored by the WMU, the Royal Ambassadors (RA’s) which officially began in 1908 is now 160,000 strong.

The main purpose and goal of RA’s is twofold:

1. To imbue its youth with strong spiritual and moral characters, and
2. o promote a missionary spirit.

Today’s young men face far greater challenges in life than ever before.  At First Baptist Church, Toccoa, Georgia, the leaders of Royal Ambassadors strive to reach boys (grades 1-6) for Christ by teaching them about Baptist missions and emphasizing mission activities and Scripture memorization to involve them in the missions of the church. Involvement in missions includes

  • living one’s faith daily,
  • having a personal experience in witness and ministry, and
  • giving and praying to support others involved in missions.

First Baptist Church has a group of dedicated Christian men and women who lead these young men in activities that enhance their spiritual, emotional, physical, mental, and social well-being in order to make Christ relevant in every phase of their lives and to create a missionary spirit that will grow as they grow.  Programs include studying missionaries and their work throughout the world.  Studies are interspersed with working on ranks, carrying out community missions, and recreational activities.  Information chosen for the boy's development is arranged in degrees or ranks with the pins awarded for each successive promotion.  For more information on this program, contact the church office.

We invite all young men in grades 1-5 to join us each Wednesday as we grow in Christ and strengthen our daily walk through fun and meaningful experiences.
